Keeping soft bill and song bird
Lately I feel somehow bored… after I change my feeding method, my eclectus parrots and ducorps cockatoo seem to be very behave (hehehe) and quiet (more)…
I think last time, one of the reason they make lots and lots of noise… until the local council visit my house (because some neighbour is not happy with the noise and make a complaint)…because they stress and also they don’t like the way I give them food..
Well, the food mostly seed which is avaiable everytimes… and they will get their vegetable and others once a day in the morning…
Now I change the method as per my previous posting, wherewhy at night I will take out everythings… even the drinking water! and clean the cup and accessories… In the morning, before go to work, I will give them food which consist of vegetable… most of the time is chili, carrots, corn on the cob, ripes papaya, apples, long bean and some green vegetable… I give them in a small portion so they will not choose much but will normally finish about 60-80% of it…
Some vitamins is added to the drinking water… as a suppliment… in the evening, if my shift that day is not very late… I will give them bread or some seeds… last night I feel like the feathers colour of my male eclectus is shining and look more beautiful!…
Okay, back to the topic… after seeing someone in the neighboughood keep a red whiskered bulbul… I feel interested to keep some softbill…to be more specific… some songbird… there are some shortlisted species in my mind… just still not sure about the price and avaiability at the moment… the species that I have shortlisted is strawheaded bulbul, yellow fronted leafbird, whited crested laughing thrush, black throat laughing thrush and magpie robin.
I haven’t decide on anything yet… but somehow for white crested laughing thrush and black throad laughing thrush… somehow I feel that it is out of my hand at the moment… many years back, I got this two species at $35 per head only…. now from what I heard, the price went up to $250 - $450 depend on the place and the individual bird! … wow…
For straw-headed bulbul, it is rare and somehow difficult to get them… but possibly a friends of mine may have it from time to time… and hopefully he is willing to sell some for me…
For any of you which think, keeping softbill especially these songbird species is boring, please check them out… you wont regret if you keep some of them… their nice song may help you to release stress from the work and life…
